TTD's special baba shunted out
Hyderabad/Tirumala, August 30

AT last, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams' (TTD) special officer AV Dharma Reddy is out of the temple administration.

Dharma Reddy, who has been mired in several controversies, has been posted as secretary, AP Information Commission.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner K Bhaskar has been appointed Joint Executive Officer, Tirumala.

This appears to be a part of the cleansing process Chief Minister K Rosaiah has undertaken in the wake of a series of allegations against the temple administration.

A week earlier, he created a specified authority comprising bureaucrats instead of constituting a regular board, which usually has many politicians as members, to oversee the TTD administration.

Significantly, Dharma Reddy's transfer on Monday coincided with the swearing in of the specified authority headed by special chief secretary J Satyanarayana.

What proved to be the last straw for Dharma Reddy was the suicide of VM Suresh, a senior assistant who was working under him.

The TTD employees' unions alleged that the young man had ended his life as Reddy tried to implicate him in the Arjita seva ticket scam.

Dharma Reddy, an officer of the Indian Defence Estate Service, was deputed to the TTD in 2004. Since then, his tenure had been marked by one controversy or the other.

TD demands prosecution of official
Tirupati , Aug 30:

The Telugu Desam state joint secretary, Mr E.V. Satish Kumar, and district spokesman, Mr Neelam Balaji, hailed on Monday the transfer of Tirumala special officer, Mr A.V. Dharma Reddy, but reiterated their demand for his arrest and prosecution as he was facing allegations in connection with the arjitham seva ticket scam.

Speaking to the media, the TD leaders said that transferring the official who faces serious allegations of corruption, to a vital department like the RTI would endanger the interests of the public.

They demanded that Chief Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, take immediate steps to repatriate him to the central defence service and recommend his suspension based on the various allegations of corruption against him and for abetting the suicide of a TTD employee recently.
