Former MLA to re-join Congress
Telugu Desam had denied him ticket
in 2004 election
Tirupati,Dec4,The Hindu
It is home-coming for the former Telugu Desam Party MLA of Tirupati,
Chadalavada Krishnamurthy. His reentry into the Congress is not
a surprise because as it is long overdue after TDP president N.
Chandrababu Naidu denied him ticket for a second term for the Tirupati
seat in the 2004 election. Mr. Naidu, instead, gave ticket to Mr.
Chadalavada's brother-in-law N.V. Prasad who, however, lost to the
Congress' M. Venkatramana.
Low profile
Ever since, Mr. Chadalavada has been maintaining a low profile though
sending signals on and off that it is only a matter of time that
he formally jumps into the Congress bandwagon. And, it is happening
now.
In fact, he contested unsuccessfully as a Congress candidate from
the Srikalahasti constituency in 1994 elections and crossed over
to the TDP subsequently to try his luck for the Tirupati seat in
the 1999 which saw
his election to the seat.
Pending his joining the Congress officially in the presence of Chief
Minister Y.S. Rajasekh-ara Reddy at a programme here on Thursday,
Mr. Chadalavada on Tuesday called on the Congress legislator M.
Venkatramana and other local Congress leaders not to leave any ruffled
feathers.
